Mughal E Azam is the first movie which was converted into colour from black and white. This is based on the true love story of Salim and Anarkali in the Great Mughal period. K. Asif directed this movie and Naushad gave music.
This movie was remade in Telugu with the name Akbar Salim Anarkali. Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao and Bala Krishna played the roles of Akbar and Salim, which was played by Prithvi Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kapoor in Hindi. Madhu Bala played the role of Anarkali.
When the colourised version was released after decades, the dialogues got a good response. Kamal Amrohi wrote the dialoges for this movie.
